Welcome to week three of #listmania! I hope you are having as much fun as I am – I love starting the week off making the rounds of linked up posts and visiting more through the week.

This week we are talking about crushes – those we had growing up and those we might be harboring these days (any overlaps for anyone?).

listmania weekly list linky

My old crushes circa 1980s

I was born in 1972 and came of age in the USA with Teen beat and Tiger beat magazines. I would use pocket money to buy these plus candy and Archie comics whenever I had the chance

C Thomas Howell – Pony Boy in the outsiders, I had posters of this boy on my bedroom walls.

Michael Schoeffling -who played Jake Ryan in 16 Candles was my fantasy boyfriend

Maxwell Caulfield from Grease 2 (and Dynasty and then virtually nothing) had pride of place on my bedroom door where I made a complete door cover out of posters of pin up boys

Shaun Cassidy was one of my first crushes while I was still in single digits. I watched the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys Mysteries on TV, had all his albums and sang Da Doo Ron Ron and Hey Deanie hundreds of times.

Scott Baio – From “Happy Days” to “Joannie loves Chachie”  to “Charles in charge” I happily watched Scott Baio on TV for years.

Grown up crushes

My list is mostly actors who I could watch in anything including a crappy film if they were starring…

Alex O’Loughlin  from Hawaii 5-O, Moonlight (still missing that they never finished this series ) and “The back up plan” movie. All Aussie and just my pre-marriage “type”

Ryan Reynolds – I have loved him in everything since his “Two guys, a girl and pizza place” days and “The proposal” is one of my favourite movies.

Josh Lucas – Sweet Home Alabama (sigh – love him in that movie)

Chris O’Dowd – from “Bridesmaids” and “Friends with kids”… He just has that “something” even though he is not a traditional  pin up, would love to meet him for a night at the pub

Timothy Olyphant – ever since Deadwood (another unfinished tale) I love the guy. Hubs and I just re-watched Die hard 4 and I realized he was the main bad guy !

Who was your biggest or most embarrassing crush? Who makes your heart go crazy these days (or is at least easy on the eyes)?

Week three link up here:

Week four prompt: A life list of jobs you have had – from a newspaper route to babysitting to marketing manager, tour guide to waitress – what have you been up to all these years?

Find your simple,

Deb

Haha. This is awesome!

Good to know we will never fight over the same man (not that it’s even a possibility!).

For me, it has always been Leonardo Di Caprio – starting with Family Ties and…it still is.

Loved the Hardy boys! Can’t believe I forgot them! My sister and I used to argue over who was better looking – shaun for me and Parker for her.
How cruel was the fashion? That satin jacket???!!!

Yes I think we will get through life without having to share. Loved the topic but found accessing images quite challenging. What fun thinking about all those lovely men though!

Ooh, I didn’t put Alex O’Loughlin on my list but have to confess to watching (and re-watching … and perhaps re-watching) Hawaii 5-O just for him ;-) And Ryan Reynolds – also a fan from his Two Guys, A Girl And a Pizza Place days, although I really fell for Nathan Fillion on that show.

Ah, how crushes change! I LOVED Keanu Reeves when Speed came out. My brother, ahem, ‘borrowed’ a life-sized cutout of Keanu from the video store for me for my birthday and it lived in my bedroom. I also loved Brad Pitt circa Legends of the Fall.

They sound cliched now, but most of my friends were into Jonathon Taylor Thomas at the time, so I’m actually quite proud of myself for my ‘mature’ selections.

Now? Jake Gyllenhaal. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (and ever since Third Rock days). Jensen Ackles. And there’s just something about Jim Caviezel. (And the letter J, apparently!)

Your list is solid gold!! I used to paste posters all over my room from Teen Beat too…and then from “Metal Edge” when I went through a heavy metal/big hair/black tight jeans stage (embarrassing!) Oddly enough, I can’t remember any specific crushes that I had back then! (probably for good reason LOL)

Reply

Debra Dane February 4, 2013 at 9:35 pm

ooh a heavy metal stage – i never had one of those lol

Consider yourself lucky!! I blame it on having two older brothers….

Reply

Diane February 4, 2013 at 10:35 pm

Oh, I’d forgotten about Scott Baio! How could I?
And Keanu Reeves too…
And there was I, struggling to come up with a list!
Actually, thinking of ‘now’ crushes was hard for me – need to watch more movies…

Debra Dane February 6, 2013 at 10:36 am

So funny how many people struggled with the now ones – i guess they are less “crushes” and more just who do we drool over or like a bit of eye candy with our movies ; )

I didn’t join in this week – time got away from me – but can I just say that I was pretty happy to see Josh Lucas’ face in your list?!! Bono is also be on my list. I used to have Matt Dillon’s face plastered all over my bedroom walls when I was a teenager as well. Those were the days!

I still have a crush on Bono – I was so jealous of the girl he sang to at his concert. I told my husband if he’d picked me I would’ve kissed him! And I used to have Matt Dillon’s face plastered all over my bedroom walls when I was a teenager. Those were the days!
