Listmania nine: Happy spots in my home

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I am slowly on the mend from being sick this last week. I was grateful that I had already chosen this prompt as it meant I could rely on photos mostly with fewer words so I could continue resting and hanging with my family.

Bed, glorious bed

Perhaps slightly sad, but perhaps not (I guess you’ll tell me) my happiest spot in my house is my bed. I am such a homebody and love to simply relax on my bed and read, chat, hang out. If someone delivers coffee or my meals I am that much happier. I don’t even like my actual bed – we hate it in fact.

When we arrived in Australia  we had to furnish our apartment completely and with cash since we could not get a credit card. We did not know if we were staying a year even. So when we went shopping and I picked out a wooden sleigh bed my husband reminded me we would not be shipping it out with us if we left. So I settled for a cheap wrought iron bed. Fourteen years later it taunts me. On the top of the list for replacing in the near future.

Crafts on wheels

My second favourite spot is my craft cart corner. Tucked in a corner of our dining area sits my most used art supplies and my embroidery stash. Love this cart and its contents. Love the increase in time spent creating this year. Love the colour. Love that it is on wheels. Love that someday I might dump it all out and use it as a drinks cart for a party!

Colour, colour, everywhere

What else do I love?

My pops of colour.

Photo frames and vases scattered all through the house.

My jewellery on my dresser.

Pops of colour all over our garden – pinks, oranges (birds of paradise), red, purple, white, yellow and more. Everywhere I turn things bloom.

Featured list: Bec from Because I’m Bec. Her list is a great example how you can suddenly see how much you have done and experienced and how blessed you have been when you do a reverse bucket list. She started off thinking she “had done nothing” but had in fact done “heaps” and struggled with what to include. The more we focus on what we have and all that is great in our life, the more we notice and so it grows.

Week ten prompt: “A to Z of now”

Check out this post at Awesomely Awake (inspired by A Design so Vast) and see how Shawn created her list.

Basically, similar to our previous lists “Currently I am” and “ A Day in the life” it gives you an opportunity to capture life right now. This is as open ended as they come with the only guide being the alphabet – be creative, talk about whatever you want from what is on in your life to favourites to feelings to plans to …. anything and everything. With the changing of the season as a quarter of the year is almost gone it is nice to stop and pause and capture “now”.

Not sad at all Deb, unless I’m a saddie too (quite possible!) my bed was one of my top happy places too! I’ve been eyeing off that craft caddy (love the colour) wanting a purpose for it for some time! Now I have one, will I be able to stop myself from buying it I wonder?!

I think it is a not-too-pricey way to have practical and pretty at the same time – i can see it having a place in our home for a long time even if i end up with a craft/art space ion the future it would get repurposed – tell me if you get one!

I am embarrassed to say that both my bed and my Raskog cart are included in my list today too, Deb. So I think that might just make us both cool! Mine is a big jumbled mess compared to your though! It was a good thought provoking list today. I am already starting to get ideas for next weeks together.

I know what you mean about the bed. Mine is a similar metal frame one I bought when I first moved out of home and I hate it. I dream about having a chunky timber four poster bed, one day…..
