Here we are at week 38 finishing another block of challenges. I hope you found this section helpful and it has led to even a few small changes – as small changes lead to bigger ones over time. Be kind to yourself and allow for slow, but permanent changes to be made. If you need to go further with your health and wellness determine what long term changes you need to make and keep setting your own mini challenges each month until you achieve them all.
We checked on our life balance again, started moving more, looked at our food choices and changes we could make, acknowledged how important rest and relaxation are, simplified our beauty rituals and prioritised self care.
This week I would love to hear how you went overall through this 6 weeks of challenges. What steps have you taken, what do you plan to carry on with, what additional changes do you plan to make?
For myself, I found great shifts happened once I started using my intentional living daily planner. By including sections to note my daily intentions with fruits and vegetables (my main food goal was to increase these), how I was going to move my body (not just gym sessions and full workouts, acknowledging the long term aim to simply move my body daily), how I wanted to feel and what I was doing for self care, I found all of these areas improved over the 6 weeks.
I went from sometimes having days where I was lucky to eat 1-2 portions of fruits and vegetables, to adding both to every meal and some snacks. I enjoyed a wide range of fruits and vegetables, prepped veggies for snacks, and brightened up some of our meals.
I went from averaging 1-2 days of exercise a week to 3-4 serious workouts (runs, classes, etc) and increased incidental exercise (like walking instead of taking the car for school runs).
I went for an overdue doctor’s appointment and made some changes to my health care. I also had an x-ray on my hand to investigate recent changes there (pain and loss of strength).
I actually sat still long enough to do my nails three times in this period and am determined to find a hairstyle I love. I have a very low key beauty approach, but most often it is due to lack of time invested and I can spare a bit more time to feel better about myself and have a little fun. Did you add or subtract from your beauty routines?
Still to come – I bought coconut oil but admit I have only tried it once so far. I plan to explore some recipes and how to use it in my diet to get the full benefits (I keep hearing about). I am determined to try quinoa again. I continue to try to get myself to bed by 10:30 but fail on this count more than any other. We booked our overseas trip to visit my family and friends in the States so I will be increasing my rest and relaxation at the end of the year!
I am confident when I do my last check of my balance wheel at the end of the challenge my health section will have improved as it is definitely going to continue being a big focus for the next 2 months for me in the lead up to our trip.
Three challenge sections to go – relationships and family; holidays and rituals; money and work. Are you still with me?
