Grateful for everyday goodness

in Gratitude

I still had some ups and downs this week, but overall I feel pretty good.  I was productive, spent time with the girls, walked the dog as much as possible (including getting soaked in the rain), moved forward on some things and enjoyed down time. I am enjoying noting my gratitude daily as it allows me to take stock of the little things that I might miss when I reflect weekly. In a pretty typical week I think it is great to capture my gratitude for my everyday moments.

This week I am grateful for:

Grilled “cheese” and salami for lunch and delicious noodles for dinner on Saturday – all cooked by hubby.

Singing to Adele in the car with the girls going to gymnastics – loud, fun and awesome. I loved that just as I was thinking I wanted to play a song twice my 8 year old uttered those very words asking me to hit it again.

My movie date with my hubby – getting out on a rainy night (aren’t they all these days? so over the rain), grabbing onto him during critical moments of the movie, sharing my popcorn with him even though he insisted he did not want any.

My dryer – the rain is dominating our lives right now – it has rained on and off every day for weeks now. If I did not have this dryer we would have to be nudists or stay home or buy new clothes.

Hot coffee in bed – still savouring this morning ritual as many days as possible. I still prefer those mornings my husband is here and brings it to me in bed, but I am also enjoying making my coffee and running back to bed, lingering sometimes until I cross from being up early to now running late for our day.

That my 9 year old daughter feels safe enough to lay with me in the dark and tell me her worries, cry with me, talk it through and be vulnerable.

My husband calling each morning from Sydney at 6:30am to make sure I woke up. Calling back on a rough morning when I was barely coherent on the phone. My own personal snooze button.

Brainstorming with Kirri as we work through plans for one more run of the self care blueprint this year.

Fresh popped popcorn with coconut oil and salt. We are on a big popcorn kick here these days including eating it for dinner more than once this month.

Finally drafting my first ebook which I will release for free next week. I was making slow progress and holding back. As I felt better in the last week it is amazing how much my mind opens up.

The helpful lady that clipped Evie’s nails (and did not charge me in the end) and loaned us a new brush to try to get her used to brushing finally.

The man who fixed my watch since a piece went missing from the clasp (Evie likes to chomp on my watch or my rings when she is telling me to do something). Not sure if she swallowed the piece or it fell off somewhere. Just grateful he was able to finally remove it from my wrist and fixed it for $40.

Good books and magazines – I seem to have an endless supply both hard copies (all my ships seem to come in at once at the library) and on my ipad. When I am alone through the week I am always grateful for reading material (and the occasional DVD).

What are you grateful for this week?

Find your simple,

Deb

Love popcorn! We have at least four nights a week when watching shows.

Said it many times before, I am so grateful for the prompts you provide (list mania and SYL in 2012) and where they take me to my end posts. Even if they cause sleepless nights! My therapy and its fun…

Thank you.

Fab Elisa – can’t wait to connect. You can send me a message via the contact form and I will be able to email you back. I am sure your kids will have a similar relationship from what I can see and how you nurture them and your life…

Love the idea of driving down the road, singing at the top of your lungs with your kids!! Mine are just starting to get into music, and I just love the versions they come up with…right now it’s “boomer has it” by Adele! Thank you for reminding me on a weekly basis that there is so much to be grateful for in this life. Glad you are able to see through all that rain you’ve been having…as much as I hate being cold, I’ll take snow over rain any day! Hope the sunshines on your weekend :)

now i can’t stop thinking “boomer has it” – that is one of our faves and Lulu is looking at starting that as her next song at drum practice if her teacher can get the music (she is just finishing Moves like jagger lol)

no on the sunshine so far – cloud and rain continues – yuck! xxxx

Beautiful grateful post Deb! Enjoy those mornings of hot coffee in bed, and catching up on a good book! I was given a couple of books for my birthday, so looking forward in getting some alone time (maybe in the bath) to relax and read! xx

Great you had a night out with hubby- and I hear you about the dryer, what we’re saving on air-con power we’re using in running the dryer! I love talking to my nearly 5 year old – she is just awesome and she can get things off her chest to me before bed :)
